The Faribault Foundation announced today they received a gift of $125,000 dollars from the State Bank of Faribault in sponsorship of the Gathering Area in the building at Viaduct Park.

In a joint News Release from the Faribault Foundation and City of Faribault it's noted there are many amenities available for sponsorship.

"On behalf of the City of Faribault, the Faribault Foundation, the residents of Faribault and all who will enjoy Viaduct Park in the future, we express our gratitude to the state Bank for their generosity.  The State Bank of Faribault partnered with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines to make this donation possible."

There was a check presentation at the State Bank.

State Bank representative Chad Koepke provided this statement: "The State Bank of Faribault is honored to assist in the buildout of Viaduct Park, a public resource that will deliver wonderful opportunities for the city of Faribault.  Giving back to the community is a core belief of the State Bank of Faribault, and Viaduct Park is the ultimate community project that will bring family and friends together to make memories for generations to come."

Mayor Tom Spooner commented, "The City of Faribault is so thankful for the great support that the State Bank of Faribault provides.  State Bank and the Carlander Family is and will always be a great asset to the Faribault community."

Faribault Foundations gave an update of other contributions to the Viaduct Park Project.

  • Jennie-O Turkey Store:  $80,000 to sponsor the concession and skate rental area within the new event center building.
  • Faribo Plumbing and Heating and the Schwartz Family:  $25,000. to sponsor the Waiting Room.
  • Faribault Mill: $25,000 to sponsor the Warming Room.
  •  RJR Faribo Insurance Agency:  $50,000 to sponsor the Patio surrounding the splash pad.
  • Crooked Pint Restaurant Faribault:  $20,000 sponsoring the Fire Pit and Benches.

State Representative Keith Allen and State Senator John Jasinski representing Faribault in the Minnesota House and Senate told KDHL following the end if the Legislative Session they were asked by the City of Faribault to request some bonding bill dollars for Viaduct Park.

The 700 Million dollar Bonding Bill does contain grants for some skate parks in eight locations.

Ten projects would be funded with cash, including $4 million to extend skate park grants for eight locations.

Some included are:

  • Northfield Skate Park $500,000
  • Rochester Skate Park  $650,000
  • St. Paul Skate Park  $500,000
  • Minneapolis Skate Park  $650,000
  • Winona Skate Park  $550,000

Also included is $3.5 million for a wastewater treatment facility in Litchfield. $1 million for law enforcement school entry devices, and $325,000 for a U.S. Capitol statue of Hubert H. Humphrey.

Other funding provided in the bonding bill:

  • $750,000 for library construction projects
  • $750,000 for a Minnesota Transportation Museum
  • $80 million for transportation purposes, including $42 million for the local road improvement program and $31 million for bridge replacements
  • $67 million to construct a Southern Minnesota regional offices and laboratory in Mankato for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
  • $60 million in asset preservation for both Minnesota State and the University off Minnesota
  • $44 million for natural resources purposes, including $33 million for asset preservation and $9 million for flood hazard mitigation.
  • $16 million to the Metropolitan Council with $15 million going to the inflow and infiltration public infrastructure program
  • $12 million to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency with $6 million going to statewide drinking water
  • $11 million for a new animal hospital at the Minnesota Zoo
