Valleyfair in Shakopee has announced that after being closed in 2020 due to COVID-19, they are opening for the 2021 season on May 22nd.

Valleyfair will open May 22 and Soak City Waterpark will open on May 29. Thank you for your continued loyalty and we look forward to seeing you on our midways this summer!

All 2020 season passes will be honored in 2021, and the amusement park will be monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic situation closely to make sure that guests and staff stay as healthy as possible. Valleyfair is also hiring for the 2021 season, looking to fill about 1,000 open jobs. For more information on that, visit their website.

In addition to Valleyfair and Soak City being operational this year, they also will be celebrating Grand Carnivale from July 24-August 8.

A fanciful fusion of extravagantly decorated floats, mesmerizing street performers, and pulsing rhythms, Grand Carnivale promises to enchant and delight - especially as the day slips into night and the sky radiates with a dazzling array of lights that takes on a life of its own.

I usually make it to Valleyfair once a summer, and it felt weird not to have that as an option for summer fun last year. It'll be nice to see it open again, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and screams that come with spending the day at the park.
