Crewmembers will be visiting Minnesota and attend the Duluth Airshow June 26-27.

The USS Minneapolis Saint Paul crew members include Commanding Officer, Commander Alfonza White, and the Command Master Chief Petty Officer Rafael Acevedo as well as several other crew members who are on a tour before the ship will be commissioned.

The USS Minneapolis Saint Paul will be commissioned in the port of Duluth at a date still to be determined. Just a little more about the ship from the Navy Press Release, the Minneapolis Saint Paul is designed for shallow water missions and near-shore combat and can handle threats like mines, ultra-quiet diesel-electric submarines and fast surface craft.

According to the Press Release, the crew will participate in a number of events while in Minnesota. This includes a Twins game Thursday evening June 24th. On Friday, the crew will meet with the Duluth Mayor Emily Larson at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, then to a pier with  Deb Deluca, from Duluth Seaway Port Authority to view the pier where the ship will be commissioned and meet with Major General Shawn Manke, Adjutant General, Minnesota National Guard.

In the evening they will appear on the WDSE show Almanac North. On Saturday and Sunday, the entire crew will be at the Airshow work at the Minnesota Navy League Boothdoing interviews and signing autographs.

Saturday evening the Navy League Minnesota Council will host a meet and greet at Bent Paddle Brewing Company, at that outing the Navy League will have merchandise for sale as well as provide opportunities for photos and autographs with the crew.

The USS Minneapolis Commissioning Committee is a part of the Minnesota Navy League, and will decide the fate of the ship and when it will be commissioned. If you would like more info use the link below.
