Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn issued a news release today with details surrounding a head-on collision on Hazelwood Avenue in Webster Township this morning.

The accident call came in 6:02 a.m. this morning.  The accident  was reported in the 5000 block of Hazelwood Avenue in Webster Township or County Road 46.

Below are the details released by Sheriff Dunn.

Rice County deputies, Northfield Ambulance and Northfield Fire/Rescue responded to a personal injury crash on CR 46 in Webster Township.

Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles involved with 2 victims.  The driver of a 2006 Audi A6, Miguel Angel Carreon Balderas, 27, of Owatonna was treated at the scene and transported to Northfield Hospital by ambulance.

The driver of a 2020 Ram pick-up, Felipe Israel Ramirez Sol, 37, of Brooklyn Center, was treated at the scene and airlifted to a metro area trauma center.

Initial crash investigation shows that the Audi A6 had been traveling n/b on Hazelwood and crossed the centerline and collided with the s/b Ram truck that was towing a 5th wheel trailer.  The MN State Patrol assisted with crash reconstruction and traffic control.

Balderas was treated and released from Northfield Hospital and was then transported to the Rice County jail pending charges of Criminal Vehicular Operation, 5th Degree Drug Possession and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.   Sol is listed in serious but stable condition. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
