Bronx, NY ( Learfield News Service) - The Minnesota Twins take on the New York Yankees in the American League wild card game Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

Ervin Santana will start for Minnesota. The veteran right-hander is 16-8 with a 3.28 earned run average this season. New York counters with Luis Severino, who is 14-6 with a 2.98 E-R-A.

Led by rookie slugger Aaron Judge, the Yankees captured the top AL wild card with a 91-71 record. The Twins claimed the second wild card spot at 85-77, just one year after losing 103 games. They became the first team in MLB history to lose more than 100 games one season and make the playoffs the following year.

The Yankees swept the Twins in three games in New York during the regular season, while losing two-of-three at Minnesota.

The winner of this game will advance to play the defending American League champion Indians in the A-L Division Series starting Friday in Cleveland.
