The Minnesota Department of Transportation says I-35 motorists between Faribault and Elko New Market will probably experience traffic delays beginning late this month.  Concrete pavement repairs are taking place.  No start date was given in a MnDot news release.

The concrete pavement reapirs require closing a lane of traffic in both directions so crews can replace damaged concrete panels and failed joints in the adjacent lane.

MnDot tells us average daily traffic volumes along that stretch of roadway range from 33,500 to 41,000 vehicles, meaning traffic delays and backups are likely especially during key commuting hours in the mornings and afternoons.  Weekend traffic backups are also likely.

MnDot suggests motorists plan ahead.  Leave earlier to your destination or seek alternate routes to avoid potential traffic delays.  A good way to monitor real-time traffic and travel information in Minnesota is to get the traffic and road conditions map at www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.

According to a news release from MnDot the work is expected to be completed in early November.
