The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has developed new Stewardship Guidelines and Best Management  Practices for using Neonicotinoid Insecticide Treated Seed. Neonicotnoid Seed Treatments are being reviewed in response to a special registration because of concerns that they harm insect pollinators. The MDA in cooperation with the University of Minnesota Extension and others have developed the proposed best Management Practices.

The proposed Best Management Practices can be reviewed on the MDA web site. You can then submit your comments. The comment period will be open until December 20, 2018. After the 60 day comment period the MDA will consider further considerations based on the comments. The revised Best Management Practices will then be made available on the MDA web site. If you prefer or feel more comfortable you can mail in written comments to: Gurinderbir Chahal Pesticide and Fertilizer Management Division, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, 635 Robert Street North, St. Paul, Minnesota 55155. You can also email: G.Chahal@state.mn.us.
