It was the 10th Annual Harry Wenger Marching Band Festival, and what a beautiful morning it turned out to be. Nice and sunny, not too hot, and not too humid, perfect day for marching the streets of Owatonna, and showcasing the talented bands. The clouds held off until the very end.

Marching bands are no longer the bands marching in straight lines and playing patriot music. There is so much more to see. From show tunes to 70's and 80's rock, love songs to WWI music, even Christmas music, there was something for everyone. Choreographed dance routines from the flag and rifle squads, I even heard some singing and electric guitar.

Grand Marshalls of the parade were Jean and Edith Zamboni. They received quite the welcome, lots of applause and smiles as they were throwing flowers into the crowds. I enjoyed watching the whole parade as it seems to get better every year. I am in awe of the talent of the bands and all of the practice they must do to perform so well together.
