The grain and livestock markets will have normal trading hours today. The markets will be closed Thanksgiving day and will not be open for an overnight session Thursday night. The grain and livestock markets will open again at 8:30 Friday morning for a shortened session as they will close Friday at noon.

Normally the week of a major holiday trading in then grain markets is pretty quiet. However, the last few years during the week of Thanksgiving we have seen pretty active trading with corn and soybeans moving higher especially on Friday the day after Thanksgiving. So far this week we have seen a fair amount of volatility both up and down. We will see what happens on Friday but so far the overnight session looks to be pretty quiet.

In case you are wondering about University of Minnesota Extension offices I checked with Claire LaCanne in Rice and Steele County. Friday is a holiday for all of Extension so all Extension offices will be closed Friday. I also checked with my Farm Service Agency office. All Minnesota Farm Service Agency offices will have normal hours today and Friday just being closed Thanksgiving Day.
