T-Storms Expected Tonight, Some Could Be Severe
It seems like there could be some heat relief coming this afternoon in the form of rain and thunderstorms. With the warm and humid weather we have been seeing there is the possibility that some of these storms today into tonight could become severe, so stay sky aware.
"Thunderstorms are expected across the entire coverage area through tonight, mainly in western Minnesota this morning then in central, southern and eastern Minnesota into western Wisconsin this afternoon into tonight. There is a Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon through tonight. The main hazard is damaging winds. In addition, a few storms may produce heavy rain which could produce isolated flooding, particularly for poor drainage or low lying areas. Heat indices will be in the low 90s this afternoon and early evening across east central through southern Minnesota."
Some of the counties that could see some severe weather tonight are; Rice, Steele, Waseca, Le Sueur, Goodhue, Scott, and Dakota counties.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center puts our portion of Southern Minnesota in a marginal chance for severe weather.
The heaviest rain is expected to fall to the West of Mankato, while areas like Owatonna, Faribault, Kenyon, Goodhue, Albert Lea, and Lakeville is expected to get between 1/2 to 1" of rainfall.
