This weekend was more of a tale of two days, unseasonably chilly on Saturday but we saw some sunshine, and then Sunday was pretty much a washout all day long. Southern Minnesota born the brunt of the rainfall with various areas seeing over 3 inches fall over a 48-hour period of time. Here is a list from the National Weather Service of who got the most rain in Southern Minnesota. 

Dakota County

  • Farmington - 4.01"
  • 3 miles SSW Lakeville - 3.75"

Goodhue County

  • Zumbrota - 3.44"
  • Red Wing - 3.26"
  • Stanton - 3.18"
  • 1.2 W Wanamingo 3.18"

Le Sueur County

  • Montgomery - 4.30"

Rice County

  • Faribault - 3.16"

Scott County

  • Jordan - 4.10"
  • Shakopee 1NW - 4.02"
  • 2 W Prior Lake - 3.96"

As the numbers indicate much of South Central Minnesota saw over 3" of water over a period of 48-hours. Farmers who had recently successfully planted corn and beans are now worried about the plants not surviving the standing water seen in many fields around the area.

Outside Southern Minnesota, a record was set at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport where 2.47" of rainfall was measured. From the images above you can see where most of the rain fell across the state beginning Saturday night.

There is some good news that comes from the wet weekend as FOX-9 reports "Behind the rain, warmer temperatures, and sunshine returns. High temperatures will gradually warm into the 70s with the possibility of reaching the low 80s by next weekend."
