This morning the Steele County Corn and Soybean Growers held their annual meeting at Cabela's in Owatonna. After a short business meeting Kent Thiesse was the guest speaker. Kent had a presentation on the new Farm Bill. Farmers have a lot of decisions to make we will live with for the next 5 years. Should we update our bases (planting history) and yields? Should we go into the ARC County or Individual, or should we go into the PLC? I think I will go to at least one more meeting to try and get an understanding of the program. Apparently I am not alone. After the meeting one farmer said "it is about as clear ad mud." Why does Congress always have to make programs so complex and complicated????
