The Steele County Corn and Soybean Growers will hold their annual meeting next Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the VFW in Owatonna. Registration is at 9:30 AM, the annual meeting is at 10:00, the speakers and lunch will follow. The annual meeting is free for all corn and soybean Growers in Steele County. It is sponsored by the Steele County Corn and Soybean Growers and their check-off. You do not have to pre-register.

The speakers will be Lisa Behnken Crops Specialist from the Rochester Regional Extension office and Gordon Kralovetz from Chido Commodities. Lisa does a lot of herbicide research along with varietal trials. Lisa will talk mainly talk about controlling tough weeds like giant ragweed and waterhemp in soybeans and resistance management. Lisa will also discuss other ways to control weeds besides relying totally on herbicides. Those include planting date, tillage and cultivating. Of course Gordon will talk about the weather in South America and the corn and soybean price outlook.
