Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Message to car thief from Iowa - don’t speed when you’re near a law officer in Rochester.

An Olmsted County deputy who was driving in the area of the Highway 52/63 interchange in Rochester Saturday noticed a car coming up from behind at a high rate of speed.

The driver apparently spotted the deputy before he passed him and slowed down. As the deputy slowed, the other driver slowed even more. When the deputy noticed the car did not have any license plates, he made a traffic stop.

That’s when it was learned the car had been stolen from Dubuque, Iowa. The 17-year-old from Iowa who was driving was taken into custody without incident.
