The University of Minnesota Extension Service will be hosting a number of Small Grain Summer Plot Tours and a couple will be in our area this week. One of the Plot Tours will be held Monday March 24, 2019 at the Lawler farm located just east of Rochester. Lunch will be served at noon and the program is from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Another plot tour will be on Tuesday June 25, 2019 in Le Center at the Ruth Hoefs and Ron Pomije farm. The morning program begins at 11:00, lunch at noon and the afternoon program is from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

These programs are designed to provide farmers and crop consultants information they need to make small grains a successful crop in their operation. Topics include agronomics, variety selection, disease identification, fungicide use, fertility and economics. Presenters include Jochum Wiersma University of Minnesota Extension Small Grains Specialists and Jared Goplen University of Minnesota Extension Educator Crops. There is no charge and you do not have to pre-register. For more information check with your local extension office.
