Yesterday I finally noticed that the leaves have turned. I guess it was a hint when all the leaves were blowing around with the high winds. For most people, the leaves turning color is a sign of fall. That and maybe the Halloween advertising for haunted houses and parties. For farmers it is such a busy time with harvest you don't really have time to notice things like fall colors. In fact, the picture above is my idea of fall. Yes, working after dark combining corn.

So far it has been an ideal harvest season. Day after day of weather suitable for field work. While you tend to get tired and fatigued, at least for me there have been no nights with very little sleep. When you get up one morning and hear that there is rain or snow coming in a couple of days you push really hard thinking you can get rested up when the bad weather hits. With an open forecast you know you are not in a sprint but a distance race. So, you pace yourself get some food and rest to keep going.
