The USDA announced that there will be a sign up period for the updated Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP.) Under the new 2018 Farm Bill the USDA's Nature Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS) plans to invest up to $700 million for new enrollments and contract extensions in 2019. The 2018 Farm Bill made many changes to the CSP which will help agricultural producers expand or take their farm or ranch to the next level.

CSP applications are accepted year around. However, if you are interested you should submit your application to your local NRCS office by May 10, 2019 to be considered for funding in 2019. The 2018 Farm Bill authorizes the NRCS to accept new CSP enrollments through 2023. The new CSP has a number of improvements over the old CSP under the expired Farm Bill. For more information contact your local USDA Service Center.
