Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester teenager was seriously injured in a traffic crash Tuesday night and the other driver may be facing serious charges.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says a pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Sterling Haukom collided with a car in the intersection of 8th Ave and 12th St SE, near Lincoln school.

Haukom was driving north on 8th Ave and witnesses told police it appeared he was speeding. It’s not known if the traffic light was green or red at the time of the crash.

The car was driven by an 18-year-old who was driving east on 12th St. Moilanen says she suffered “significant injuries.” Her name has not been released.

Moilanen says because Haukom showed signs of possible alcohol use, a blood sample was taken. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries and then went to jail.

The wreck happened around 10:30 pm.
