Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A woman and her young child were found dead in a Rochester apartment Sunday and police are treating the deaths as a homicide case.

Rochester Police Dept  Capt. Casey Moilanen says family members became concerned about the 23-year-old woman because they had not heard from her.

Moilanen says they went to her apartment at Olympik Village and found the 2-year-old girl dead. They called 911 around 1:30 PM and officers found the woman in another part of the apartment.

Moilanen says “it appears the deceased victims died of trauma.” Autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Moilanen says as of Sunday evening,” the person(s) responsible for this incident has not been arrested.” Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Investigator Caban at 507-328-6928, rcaban@rochestermn.gov.
