An arrest warrant filed in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday says the alleged carjacking happened the day before the Walmart shooting.

Court records indicate 20-year-old Solomon Ojulo Obang was on probation for a felony assault conviction when he was caught with a bullet last Fall.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 Saturday morning. It ended with a collision involving a Rochester Police Department squad vehicle, the court document says.

A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday says the armed encounter occurred on Hwy. 14 in Rochester Thursday afternoon.

The case stems from a law enforcement-arranged controlled drug buy.

The charges say responding officers observed injuries to the occupants and damage to their property at the scene.

Rochester Police responded to the gunfire at the north Walmart store around 11:00 on the night of March 23.

It began with a traffic stop and ended with officers deploying a taser.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday, alleges the swindle scheme occurred after the alleged carjacking but before he was charged in that case.

Law enforcement uses the automated readers to track stolen vehicles, individuals with active warrants and vehicles involved in missing person cases.
