Rochester Boy Injured While Diving in Florida Keys
Ramrod Key, FL (KROC-AM News) - Officials in the Florida Keys say a young boy from Rochester was airlifted to a hospital in Miami following what was described as a "dive incident" on Tuesday.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the 11-year-old boy was in about 20 feet of water at Looe Key Reef when he blacked out and began convulsing after he came to the surface. He had been in the water for about 35 minutes.
The Sheriff's Office report on the incident says that occurred around 10:50 in the morning while the boy and his family were with a divemaster aboard a commercial dive boat. At last report, the 11-year-old was in stable condition and expected to recover.
His name has not been released.
