The Rice County Soil and Water Conservation Service (SWCD) is now accepting orders for the 2022 Tree Sale. There are 27 different species of shrubs and trees available available to plant next spring. Trees can be planted for erosion control, wildlife habitat, windbreaks, agroforestry, or any other conservation practice. There are two new species available this year, concolor fir and silver maple. Also available are fertilizer packets, tree matts and other tree planting supplies including advice to make your planting a success.

In case you are wondering you do not have to be a resident of Rice County to order trees and shrubs from the Rice County SWCD. Orders will be taken until early April but many species sell out. So, after February 26, 2022 call the Rice County SWCD 507-332-5408 to check availability. The trees and shrubs usually arrive around the second week in April. Most of the stock is bare root however, there are a few potted evergreens available.

Orders can be placed online again this year and paid with a credit card at: www,riceswcdonlinestore.com. There is also a paper copy of the order form you can download from the website: www.riceswcd.com. If you do not have access to a computer and printer you can call the Rice County SWCD office and they will send a copy to you in the mail.
