Rice County Soil Health Meeting

The Rice County Soil Health Group will be hosting a Soil Health Field Day at the Mike Peterson Farm on Tuesday August 6, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Mike's farm is located at 8391 Hall Avenue Northfield. Actually that is just east of Northfield on Highway 19 so it is really easy to find. The group will meet at the red garage at the driving range.

There are a lot of new things going on with cover crops so there will be some good information to share if you are thinking about planting cover crops this year. The Rice County SWCD will have their interseeder there. They are planning on trying it out on soybeans later this year around leaf drop time. Mike also has a corn field that was interseeded on June 10, 2019 so you can have a look at how the cover crops are growing under the corn canopy.
