Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A local social-justice advocacy group staged a protest Saturday outside an apartment complex in northwest Rochester.

Many of the participants in the demonstration organized by C.U.R.E, or Communities United for Rochester Empowerment, were current and former tenants of the Villages at Essex Park apartments near the Watson Sports Complex. The focus of the protest was some recent increases implemented by the management of the apartments, which the protesters complained were excessive.

The group delivered a letter to the manager’s office demanding the rent hikes be rescinded, the company provide relocation assistance tenants moving because of the increases, and a face-to-face meeting with the tenants and representatives of C.U.R.E.
