A free event titled Profitable Farming Practices That Protect Drinking Water will be held in Faribault on December 5, 2019 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. It will be held at the Rice County Extension Building on the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault. It is being sponsored by the Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District, Cannon River Watershed Partnership and the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Some of the topics addressed include: Groundwater awareness, Local farm research results on wide row corn and cover crops, Easy methods to evaluate soil health, Ag regulation certainty and funding sources for conservation practices. In addition Rice County farmers Mike Ludwig and Tim Little and other local farmers will talk about their experiences planting cover crops, using no-till, strip till while staying profitable.
