Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The rumors that began circulating in Rochester earlier this week are true. The President of the United States has scheduled a visit to the city next week. President Donald Trump’s campaign website indicates he will be speaking at a campaign-style Make America Great Again Rally at the Mayo Civic Center on the evening of October 4th. The website indicates the event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm with the doors opening at 3:30 next Thursday afternoon. Tickets are available through the Trump campaign website.

The visit to Rochester will take place just weeks ahead of the November midterm election during which voters in southern Minnesota will be electing a new representative the U.S. House to replace Democrat Tim Walz. President Trump is expected to strongly endorse Republican Jim Hagedorn in his election race against Democrat Dan Feehan.

This will be President Trump’s first stop in Minnesota since he spoke at a rally in Duluth in June before the state’s primary elections. The last time a sitting president visited Rochester was in 2004 when President George Bush held a rally at Mayo Field.  President Barack Obama did not make an appearance in Rochester, but his motorcade passed through the city when he spoke at a rally in Cannon Falls in 2011.
