Popular Hastings Bakery & Deli Closing This Month After 70+ Years
It's the end of an era in Hastings later this month, and if you add in the time the business was owned by non-family members you've got a 100-year-old business that will close its doors for good November 27th. Emily's Bakery and Deli in Hastings announced on Tuesday that they would close later this month.
Emily's Bakery and Deli is a well-known stop throughout Minnesota for its fresh-baked goodies and its deli selection that is offered. All that ends November 27th, after the current owners of Emily's, Norine Bishop and Steve Fox, shut off the ovens and close the doors for the last time.
The announcement that the bakery and deli, which has been family-owned for 73 years, was closing hit many in the gut. Emily's Facebook page, where the announcement was made, blew up with comments and memories, many of which took a sentimental tone as people reminisced about cups of coffee or a doughnut shared with a past family member or friend.
The bakery and deli also noted that someone started a GoFundMe for the business, but that fundraiser is in no way affiliated with the business and it is asking people not to donate to the crowd-sourcing fundraiser.
Having been owned by members of the Walker family since 1948 the business had seen many different buildings and name changes over the years, but one thing remained the same, the quality service and baked goods offered to those coming through the doors.
Feel free to share a memory of Emily's in the comments.
