Owatonna's wrestling team opened the Section 1AAA tournament with a dominating 70-0 victory over Rochester Century Thursday evening at the OHS gym. The Panthers had topped John Marshall 57-24 to set up their match versus the top-seeded Huskies. Owatonna wrestles No. 4 seed Farmington Saturday, February 16 at 11 am at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. The Tigers beat Rochester Mayo 38-31 on Thursday. The section finals are Saturday at 1 pm. Owatonna's matches will be heard on AM 1390 KRFO and the KRFO app.

No. 2 seed Northfield beat No. 7 Winona 60-13 to reach the other semifinals. Winona won by forfeit over Austin when the Packers' decided they wouldn't travel through the winter weather to get to Northfield. The No. 6 Faribault at No. 3 Albert Lea match was postponed to Friday at 7 pm.

In Section 1A wrestling, No. 8 seed St. Charles beat No. 9 Triton 57-17. Top seed Zumbrota-Mazeppa beat the Saints in the quarterfinals 41-29 and will face No. 5 Caledonia in Saturday's 1 pm semifinals at Mayo Civic. No. 2 Goodhue and No. 3 Chatfield meet in the other bracket.

In Section 1AA action, the semifinals are No. 1 Kasson-Mantorville versus No. 4 Lake City and No. 2 Simley against No. 3 Plaineview-Elgin-Millville at 11 am Saturday in Rochester.

Section 2A wrestling was postponed on Friday and will begin Friday, February 15 at LeSueur-Henderson High School. The first-round matches include USC against St. Clair/Loyola at 5 pm, followed by Westfield vs WEM/JWP and lastly Lake Crystal-Welcome Memorial against the host team. The winners advance to the quarterfinals which begin Saturday at 10 am also at LHHS.

The Owatonna girls' basketball team was held to nine second-half points in a 47-32 loss at Mankato East in a Valentine's Day makeup game. The Huskies host Faribault Friday night at 7:30 pm on KDHL AM 920 and the KDHL app. Owatonna will host a variety of events to raise money for the We All Play, inclusive playground and Miracle Field project.

The Medford girls stayed unbeaten with a 56-37 home victory over Dover-Eyota. The Tigers play at Blooming Prairie Friday night in a Kat Kountry 105 broadcast. Tip is scheduled for 7:15 pm.

The Austin boys basketball team moved into first place in the Big Nine with a 71-59 win over Mankato East Thursday. The Century boys hockey team clinched their second straight conference title with a 7-2 win over Winona.

Farmington captured the Section 1AA girls hockey championship with a 5-4 double-overtime win over Lakeville North Thursday at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna. Rochester Lourdes won the 1A title 7-1 over Faribault.
