Owatonna football scored on all six first-half possessions and their first two of the second half to beat Faribault 56-7 Friday night to improve to 5-0 on the season. The top-rated Huskies host a showdown with Mankato West Friday, October 4 for homecoming. The Scarlets (4-1) are coming off a 58-21 win over Rochester Mayo.

The Huskies used a balanced attack with dual quarterbacks. Multiple receivers made dazzling one-handed grabs. The ground game featured nine runs of ten yards or more.

OHS opened the game with a seven-play, 53-yard drive capped by Brayden Truelson's 19-yard scoring pass to Carson DeKam which he secured with his right hand. Truelson connected with Payton Beyer for a 38-yard TD pass less than a minute later for a 14-0 lead.

Beyer made a highlight-reel catch on the next drive at the one-yard line. Quarterback Sol Havelka finished that drive and the next with short runs for a 28-0 Huskies lead. Faribault responded with a 65-yard touchdown pass on the next play.

Owatonna added a 38-yard touchdown run by Tanner Hall and a Havelka-to-Beyer 13-yard TD pass for a 42-7 halftime time. Truelson ended the Huskies first drive of the second half with a three-yard keeper. Jerez Autridge carried the ball seven times on a nine-play 75-yard drive that ended early in the fourth quarter on his 13-yard run.

Lane Versteeg went 8-for-8 on point-after kicks, filling in for Sam Henson who slightly injured his knee during a soccer match.

Owatonna ended the night with about 270 yards rushing and a about 230 passing yards. The Huskies held the Falcons to about 50 yards rushing and 85 passing.

Saturday night is Tackle Cancer Night at OHS in addition to homecoming. It's also the first time the Huskies will play the Scarlets since the 2016 season.
