Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn joined KDHL on the 8:05 report this morning and gave details about the response to a fire at 10490 Kenyon Boulevard in Richland Township New Year's Day.  Dunn said the Kenyon Fire Department requested mutual aid after arriving and finding the unoccupied building fully on fire.  The Faribault Fire Department responded with three trucks and personnel.

Dunn added the fire spread to an adjacent grain bin before the fire departments were able to extinguish the flames.  The shed was a total loss and the grain bin suffered damage as well.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  The Rice County Sheriff did say there was electricity to the structure.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene also by the Kenyon Police Department.  Sheriff Dunn was very appreciative of their assistance in directing traffic because the location is just off HIghway 60.

The property owner was identified as Douglas A. Story.  The call came in at 3:36 p.m.

During our visit, Dunn also took the time to remind people it's probably not a good idea yet to drive full sized vehicles on area lakes.
