Special thank you to Extension Educator in Rice and Steele County Claire LaCanne for setting up today's special hour long AM Minnesota program. For about 16 years there has been an Organic Crops program late in March in on the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna. Instead of a virtual Organic Crops Day Claire though of having a radio Organic Crops Day.

It was nice to have Claire help host the program too! Our first guest was Carmen Fernholz who has been an organic farmer since the early 1970's and has also hosted research done by the University of Minnesota on his farm by Madison Minnesota. Carmon talked about organic weed management, organic markets, how to transition to organic production and alternative crops.

Diane DwWitt U of M Extension Swine Educator talked about parasite management in organic pastured swine and the difference between "natural pork production" and organic swine production. Click on the link and listen to Organic Crop Day on KDHL's AM Minnesota program.
