The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets showed everyone in the Castle at Kenyon-Wanamingo tonight why they are the 23rd ranked high school team in the nation.  The Class 2A #1 rated and three time defending state champions defeated Kenyon-Wanamingo 50-18.  The Knights are ranked #7 in Class 1A.

Both teams had wrestlers out due to illness or injury which might have changed the score a bit but a KoMets victory would probably still be the outcome.  KDHL wrestling guru Paul Shea noted how business like Kasson-Mantorville looked as they entered the gym.  There was no fooling around.  These kids were focused to wrestle.

The Knights only points came on three pins.  Sophomore Bray Olson achieved the fastest pin of the night at 50 seconds in the 132 pound match.  Seth Brossard is rated #2 in the state in Class A at 152 pounds and collected a pin in 3:21 over sophomore Dylan Baker.

Another pin for Kenyon-Wanamingo came in the final match of the evening when Jesse Jackson pinned freshman Anthony Moe-Tucker in 1:11.  Jackson is ranked #8 at 285 in Class 1A.

The Knights forfeited at 160 pounds and 182 pounds to give the KoMets 12 more points.  #2 rated 160 pound Bennett Berge and #4 ranked 182 pound Dalton Andrist are at those weights for Kasson-Mantorville.

Kasson-Mantorville started the match with a 1:14 pin at 106 pounds by senior Jace Minelli and tech falls for #3 ranked 113 pound freshman Logan Vaughn and #3 rated Class 2A 120 pound senior Robby Horsman.

Two time state champion Jeron Matson is the top rated 120 pound wrestler in Class A and has been out with a knee injury.  Kenyon-Wanamingo hopes to get him back by team sections in about a month.

Kasson-Mantorville 195 pound #3 ranked senior Grant Parrish had a 14-0 lead after the first period and got a pin in 2:11.

Following the match Kenyon-Wanamingo Head Coach Matt Ryan said he was pleased with the way his team competed against a, "super team."
