MSHSL Class 4A State Tournament opening games Tuesday, March 24, 2026 are at Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

10:00 A.M.  top seed Tartan opens with #8 seed Blaine.

The undefeated Titans are 29-0 with a head scratching #7 QRF (Quality Results Formula) in their class.  They average 80.7 points per game and allow 53.6.

That defensive points allowed is the best among Class 4A state participants.

The Bengals are 22-6, #13 QRF, finished second in the Northwest Suburban Conference averaging 71.4 while giving up 64.4 points per game.

Shiloh Ayitey leads Blaine averaging 20.6 points per game.  That was good enough for the senior to rank 56th in the state.

Tartan is making their 11th State Tournament appearance with a title in 2000.

Blaine was Class 2A runner-up in 1987 and is making their 6th trip to the big dance.

At Noon Section 1 Champion Lakeville South faces Section 2 champ Chaska in a game broadcast on KDHL.

The Cougars are appearing in their 5th tournament, are the #4 seed.  The Hawks their 8th with a title in 2004. They are the #5 seed.

Lakeville South is 23-5 with a 68.7 scoring average and 58.6 defensive yield. Their #4 QRF is a touch better than Chaska's #5 QRF and #5 seed.

Chaska has won 22 straight games, Lakeville south 4 straight.

The Cougars finished second behind Prior Lake in the South Suburban Conference while the Hawks are Metro West Champions.

2:00 P.M. #2 seed, #1 QRF, defending Champion Wayzata Trojans compete against South Suburban member Apple Valley #7 seed, #14 QRF.

The Eagles are making their 12th trip to state in search of their 4th title.

Wayzata is in their 11th big dance hoping for their 5th championship.

Apple Valley averages 74.1, gives up 66.8 points per game with a 19-10 record.  Wayzata averages a Class 4A best 87.7 points while allowing 65.1 points per game.

The Eagles finished 4th in their conference, have five straight wins.

The Trojans have won seven straight and are Lake Conference Champions.

4:00 p.m. defending Class 3A title holder Alexandria Area, #6 seed, #17 QRF, meet #3 seed, #2 QRF Maple Grove.

The Crimson finished third at last years tournament. were runner-up in 2000 and are making their 11th appearance.

The Cardinals have also been to the big show 11 times with second place finishes in 1943 and 2021.

Moorhead was last year's Class 4A Consolation Champion.

Semifinals are slated for 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Williams Arena.

Wayzata senior, Nolan Anderson,  6'8, ranked 25th in scoring averaging 23.1 points per game.

Christian Wiggins, Trojans, 6'5 senior, averages 21.1..

Apple Valley is led by Camare Young, senior, 6'5. averaging 19.9 points with 118 assists, 30th best in the state.

The state title will be determined in a 8:00 p.m. game Saturday, March 28, 2026.
