Again this year the Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers will be sponsoring 2 Agriculture Future of America (AFA) scholarships that are available to seniors in high school from Dakota and Rice County. Students must be pursuing a degree in Agriculture in college next fall. The deadline to apply is Wednesday March 13, 2019. The application is online at: http://www.agfuture.org/s/1342/rd16/index3.aspx?sid=1342&gid=1&pgid=329

AFA and its partners award scholarships in varying amounts but are at least $1,600. Plus it includes a sponsorship to the AFA Leadership Conference that is worth another $1,200. The Leadership Conference is held in Kansas City and the only cost is travel to Kansas City. Interviewing past AFA scholarship recipients from Rice and Steele County they have said the AFA Leadership Conference was worth far more and was the highlight of the program.

These students that received the AFS scholarship were able to spend time in very small groups, have dinner with and interact with the Presidents and CEO's of the United States largest agribusiness! What an opportunity. I was jealous! If you would like more information contact me at KDHL or Farm Business Management Instructor at the South Central College Faribault Campus Jeff Schultz.
