In 2020, a friend is a matter the species!

Back in September, a pensioner in England made international headlines after he lost his wife to pancreatic cancer. Alone in the midst of a Coronavirus lockdown with no other family or friends, Tony Williams posted a sign in his window looking for someone to talk to.

"I have lost Jo," his sign read, "my lovely wife and soul mate. I have no friends or family. No one to talk to. I find the unremitting silence 24 hours a day unbearable torture. Can no one help me?"

Williams' sign was spotted by local media, and within days he'd received hundreds of phone calls and thousands of emails. His story isn't the only one like it, though this next one takes an interesting -- and slightly hilarious -- turn.

My friend Lauren was walking around her St. Paul neighborhood earlier this week when she spotted a poster tacked to a pole. She took a photo of it and posted it to her Instagram story with the caption, "Came across this on my walk today...whoever you are I love you for taking the time to post this." Here's what the poster reads:

MISSING Squirrel. His name is Lenny and we spent a lot of our quarantine time together. He was a really good listener and always told some really nutty stories. Anyway, if you see him, tell that son-of-a-bitch that I miss him and hope he is doing well. - John

Lenny, if you're reading this -- we also hope you're doing well. Oh, and John misses you.
