Minnesota Zoo Shares Video of Anteater Meeting Penguins for the First Time
Since the Minnesota Zoo is temporarily closed, zookeepers Jessica and Dan decided to introduce two animals that usually live on opposite sides of the world.
Cricket is a tamandua, which is a type of anteater. Jessica and Dan brought Cricket to the African penguin exhibit at the Minnesota Zoo so the two types of animals could meet! Tamanduas are usually found in Central and South America. The penguins seemed very interested in Cricket!
Jessica explains in the video that at the zoo, even though it's closed, it's business as usual otherwise! “A huge part of our animal’s care on a day-to-day basis is enrichment. ... What that means is that we want to make sure that they are stimulated both physically and mentally.”
They're also sharing other cool videos on their Facebook page, including one where they're training one of their brown bears! You can check that out HERE.
