Minnesota Woman Creates “Take a Bag, Leave a Bag” Initiative to Keep Neighborhood Clean
It's hard to take a walk in your neighborhood, trying to enjoy the scenery, and all you can see is the trash. That's what was happening to Minneapolis woman Mariah Weitzenkamp. So she created this "Take a Bag, Leave a Bag" initiative to try to get her neighbors involved in keeping their neighborhood clean.
She painted a milk jug red and stuffed a variety of bags in it. WCCO writes that there are grocery bags, bread bags, and cereal bags in there. People can stop by, grab a bag, and pick up trash during their walk so they don't have to carry the trash in their hand. Another option with this initiative is if you have bags you're looking to get rid of, you can drop them off at this spot.
Other neighborhoods have noticed Mariah's initiative and now want her to make one for their neighboorhood!
