The Minnesota USDA Farm Service Agency Office (FSA) will be hosting a Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP 2) on October 22, 2020 at 12:00 pm. These "payments will provide eligible producers with financial assistance that gives them the ability to absorb some of the increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 outbreak." The webinars will provide information and some of the resources available for farmer and ranchers about the program.

If you cannot watch the webinars live they will be recorded so you wan watch them at your convenience. Local FSA offices are accepting applications for CFAP 2 through December 11, 2020. You can also get more information at the website: farmers.gov/CFAP. The first CFAP program was rather complicated with requirements of inventories at a certain point in time if it was priced at that time.

This CFAP 2 program to me seems much simpler. I called my FSA office and said I wanted to sign up. The staff filled out the form and asked me to double check my certified acres for this year and my program yield for corn and beans. I signed it, scanned it and emailed it back. It is very straight forward for livestock producers too. The key is get signed up as the deadline is December 11, 2020.
