28-year-old Sarah Declusin from Embarrass Minnesota is facing manslaughter charges from this past January after allegedly getting drunk, smoking meth, and taking a sedative before falling asleep on her 5-month-old daughter, killing her.

According to the criminal complaint, the father of the child came home early in the morning of January 22 when he leaned in to give Declusin a kiss and noticed his daughter pressed in between Decluisn and the couch. He then screamed, “You are squishing my baby.”

When first responders arrived on the scene they found the baby to be pale laying on the floor and not breathing. Paramedics then brought the baby to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The autopsy concluded that the baby died of positional asphyxia. Initially, Declusin told investigators that someone must have come into her house and taken the baby out of her bassinette.

According to WCCO-CBS: "A neighbor reported to child services that two days after the girl’s death Declusin came to her door “messed up” and recounted that before her daughter died she had been drinking, smoking meth, and had taken Valium, a sedative. She reportedly told the neighbor that when she woke up the child was wedged between her legs."

The neighbor told officials that they were extremely concerned for her other children, and another neighbor told investigators that she told the people around her not to talk to the police. Declusin is being charged with second-degree manslaughter and child endangerment. If convicted on both charges she faces up to 15 years in prison.
