Minnesota Coronavirus Relief Fund Spending Report
The Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) Office released the Local Government Spending Report this week. In the Executive Summary MMB reveals the plan was, "to distribute $841 million of the state's federal Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) allotment to local governments to support COVID-19 relief efforts."
Twelve eligible cities and 261 eligible towns did not request distributions.
"The State of Minnesota distributed $837,728,966, or 99.5%, of the original allotment to local governments between July 6 and October 16, 2020. The remaining $3,735,034, or 0.5% was not requested by local governments and will be re-purposed to aid the state's COVID-19 relief efforts."
"As of December 15, (2020), cities and towns have reported returning $9,411,931to the counties and $223,804 to hospitals in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. Counties have reported returning $904,584 to the State."
"The three largest expenditure categories for local governments were; Payroll for Public Health and Safety Employees, Small Business Assistance, and budgeted Personnel and Services Diverted to a Substantially Different Use."
"As of December 15, 1,413, or 87% of the 1,615 local governments that received funds have submitted an accepted final report to MMB.
