The Minnesota Corn Growers are calling for proposals from farmers for the Minnesota Corn Innovative Grant Program. This is the sixth year of the popular program. The goal is for farmers to propose research projects that will help increase the sustainability and profitability on their farms. Farmers can receive up to $7,000 to test an idea on their farm. To date the Minnesota Corn Innovative Grant Program has funded 37 projects and awarded more than $700,000.

The Minnesota Innovative Grant Program provides funding "toward the development of a concept or best practice that could be replicated by Minnesota's farmers with emphasis on the following:

New uses for corn and corn-co-products, Improved nutrient efficiency, Comparative tillage innovations, Economic and management innovations, and Production practices that enhance water quality.

"The Innovative Grant Program has grown over the years to match the forward-thinking mindset brought by corn farmers to every aspect of their operation," Minnesota Corn Growers Association Research Director Macie Kazula said. :The research carried out by farmers next year through this program will identify the novel ideas that could help all farmers, greatly benefitting our ag sector,"

In addition to the one year grant of $7,000 replicated trials may be funded at up to $30,000 per year and must include a "statistical design and analysis protocol. The deadline for submitting a proposal is January 15, 2021. For more information on maybe submitting a proposal go to the Minnesota Corn Growers website: mncorn.org/research.
