MFP Payments Authorized

It's official, Monday the USDA announced that the final payments have been authorized for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP) for 2019. Remember in this MFP round two as I call it, last summer when we signed up we received 50 percent of the payment for 2019. Then last fall we received another 25 percent with the final 25 percent that will be showing up in bank accounts very soon.

Local Farm Service Agency offices will be processing the payments. We do not have to do anything. Local Farm Service Agency offices will take care of it now that they have the authorization. So, watch your bank account. If the payment does not show up in the next week or two contact your Farm Service Agency office.

There has been some speculation that with farmers still feeling the financial effects of the Trade War with China there may be a Market Facilitation Program round three. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue says there will not be a MFP round three. Some still argue that it is an election year so that increases the likelihood of a MFP round three. I would suggest not counting on it until it is officially announced!
