The Medford volleyball team opened up its home schedule in front of a huge and enthusiastic crowd Thursday night. The Tigers, who were the state runner-up last season, swept Pine Island with a dominant 25-10, 25-10, 25-11 victory.

Coach Missy Underdhal expressed her appreciation for the fan support. Kinsey Cronin led the way with 15 kills. Alyvia Johnson had eight kills and three ace serves. Emma Kniefel added six kills. Morgan Langeslag had nine digs. Kiley Nihart had seven digs.

Underdahl said the team modified its rotation after a loss to Minneota last Saturday, the same team that topped the Tigers in the state title match last November. Hear her comments on the KRFO Coaches Show Saturday morning. Owatonna coaches lead off the program at 9 am. The Medford show starts a little after 9:45 am.

The Owatonna girls soccer team blanked defending Big Nine champion Mankato West Scarlets 3-nil. Abby Vetsch, Asia Buryska, and Grace Wolfe scored the Huskies goals. OHS has an afternoon match Friday, August 30 against Delano at the Lincoln Soccer Complex.

The Huskies boys soccer squad ended in a 2-2 tie vs West in Mankato. OHS girls tennis swept Winona 7-0 with each spot winning in straight sets. Sara Anderson, Megan Johnson, Olivia Herzog and Olivia McDermott played the singles spots. Doubles teams included Caitlynne Bussert/Liv Matecjek, Leah Tucker/Alex Huemoeller and Kat McDermott/Jaide Hanson.

Owatonna girls cross country took first place at River Falls, WI. The OHS boys ran 15th out of 38 teams at the St. Olaf meet. Preston Meier led the way for Owatonna with a 21st place finish out of 862 runners.

Blooming Prairie volleyball dropped a 3-0 match to Goodhue. Owatonna's b-squad football team beat Century 44-8.
