Faribault senior goalie Camryn Salmonsen had 39 saves but it wasn't enough as the Rochester Mayo Spartans came from behind to win 4-3 in Faribault tonight.

Salmonsen stopped 23 shots through two periods and Faribault had a 2-0 lead going into the final period when the Spartans erupted for 20 shots and connected four times.

Total shots were 43 for Rochester Mayo and 13 for Faribault.

Aftrer a scoreless first period which Mayo dominated in terms of possession of the puck Faribault scored two goals on just 6 shots in the second period.

The Falcons had 4 shots in the first period and 3 in the third period.

Rochester Mayo tallied 12 first period shots and 11 more in the second period.

Sophomore Abigail Goodwin scored Faribault's first goal on the power play thanks to an awesome pass from classmate Abbigail Lake.  It was Goodwin's 5th goal and Lake's second assist of the season.

The Falcons leading goal scorer sophomore Olivia Williamson connected on the first of two unassisted goals in the game to give the home team the lead after two periods.

Within the first 10 minutes of the third period Mayo took the lead in the game with goals by seniors Megan Adair (12),Maddie Lutz (5) and Brooke Leone (15).

Olivia Williamson answered with her second unassisted goal with approximately four minutes to go in the game.

Spartan senior Eryn Fjelsted scored the game winner not long after Williamson's goal on a fluke goal.

Fjelsted was looking to get the puck in front of the net and a Faribault player by the post had the puck hit her skate and ricochet into the goal.

Our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game were Salmonsen and Williamson.

Salmonsen stopped point blank shot after point blank shot to keep her team in the game.

Rochester Mayo and Faribault came into the game tied for first place in the Big Nine with Northfield.  Each team with 12 points.

The Falcons were without the services of senior Allyson McCoshen due a death in the family.

During the first period and a half it looked like Faribault had no energy in the game when the Goodwin power play goal seemed to ignite them at least for a little while.

Friday they play at 10:30 a.m. against Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Riverside Arena
