The grain and livestock futures markets will close at their normal times today. It seems like a few years ago with the open outcry pits in Chicago we would close early on New Years Eve day. Today with all the trading on computers I guess it is easier to keep the markets open in case someone wants to trade. There will not be an overnight session Wednesday night. The markets will reopen at their normal times Thursday morning.

I am sure many farmers will be happy when 2019 is over. It was a difficult growing season with weather challenges from spring to almost Christmas. In fact the last figure I saw was 7 percent of the corn is still in the field. We have seen a nice rally in beans as the funds have been covering their sold contracts.  Corn has seen a small rally but the funds are still short around 85,000 contracts. Will it help the corn market when Thursday begins a new Quarter and new year?
