The Maple Lake Irish finished a dream season Saturday being crowned Class 2A State Champions without losing a match all year.

The Irish (36-0) didn't drop a single set in the State Tournament and lost just 10 sets all season.

In their sweep of North Branch in the final, scores were 25-18, 25-19, 25-21.  The match took 71 minutes to complete.

5'8 senior Linsey Rachel continued to impress with her crushed kills.  She had 20 kills in the title match with a .500 attack percentage and added 11 digs.

Rachel finished the tournament with 44 kills and a .355 hitting percentage.

The Irish hit .245 for the match, .231 in the first set, .278 in the second set and .222 in the third set.  They had 8.5 blocks and North Branch tallied 2.

There are ten seniors on the Maple Lake team.

The Vikings finished their season 29-4 and hit .075 in the match. .107 in the first set, .023 in the second set and .118.

There were seven seniors on the North Branch roster this season.
