Cars seem to bring out the memories in people. Maybe it's that first new car you ever bought, maybe it was your first car or something that you shared a special moment in with a parent. Who doesn't remember sitting facing the rear in a station wagon taking a road trip with the family? One Ohio man is trying to re-connect with his late grandfather's car after it was sold in 2006.

If you have been scouring the want ads in the Twin Cities papers you may have seen this ad before “Grandson seeking to find grandfather’s blue 1968 Ford Torino … any info please call 440-969-8131.” The car in question is a 1968 Ford Torino that was bought in California and may be residing here in the land of 10,000 lakes.

The car itself is a blue two-door hardtop GT model with a 200-horsepower V-8 engine, sold by a guy named Thomas Carr Sr. around 2006 in Oceanside, Calif.  Thomas's grandson Doug, who lives in Ohio, has been searching for the Torino once owned by his grandfather with the hope of possibly buying it.

His late grandfather, a bus driver from Pittsburgh, bought and restored the vintage Ford back in the 1990s with a friend shortly after he retired in California. According to this Star Tribune article, Doug thinks his grandfather sold the car in about 2006 to a couple who had sentimental reasons of their own for owning a Torino. They used to drive in one when they were dating.

After Doug called the state motor vehicle department, he believes the car was registered here in Minnesota. This is where you come in! Maybe you've got a friend who bought one around that time or you have seen one at a car show that might fit the bill, help the guy out and give him a tip. No one will force you to sell it, it sounds from the article he just never got to say goodbye to it before it was sold.

In case you were wondering nadaguides.com prices the car value in the range of $6,000 to $27,000, depending on the condition.
