Listing The Most Popular Thanksgiving Side Dishes
With Thanksgiving coming up Thursday we all can expect lots and lots of food on your plate, but do you have a certain side dish that your'e looking forward to? Well, according to Insider these are the 12 most popular sides for Thanksgiving:
12. Corn
Wither it be on the cob, creamed, steamed, or candied (okay maybe not candied but you get the idea) you are sure to find this apart of your Thanksgiving Fest!
11. Glazed Carrots
Not a big favorite of mine, but to others this is a big part of their overflowing plates.
10. Candied Yams
Yams or to some called Sweet Potatoes (we will talk about that here in a little bit) are always an item you can expect to be found Thanksgiving day in one way, shape, or form!
9. Creamed Spinach
Popeyes favorite dish and a good form of Iron, Creamed Spinach is another great item to add some color to your plate.
8. Brussel Sprouts
Some people cook them in bacon, while others just like them steamed, Brussel Sprouts are a dish that some people (including myself) will defiantly be passing on this Thanksgiving.
7. Sweet Potato Casserole
You're probably thinking to yourself why a Sweet Potato dish is listed on here twice. Well that's because they are technically different! You can find out more about that here but for now let's get back to the list. I prefer my Sweet Potato Casserole covered in more marshmallows than Sweet Potato.
6. Green Bean Casserole
The second and last casserole on this list, you can never go wrong with a good Green Bean Casserole. There are so many different recipes so you can never go wrong with this classic dish!
And now, the Top 5!
5. Cranberry Sauce
Coming in at #5 is the brightest side dish on the list! Every year I always hear the debate on which is better, the canned jelly sauce or fresh home made sauce!
4. Rolls
Oh who could forget this important piece of dinner! From traditional dinner rolls to crescent rolls, you can be sure to see someone at Thanksgiving dinner with 6 on their plate at once (I'm totally ratting myself out on this one).
3. Macaroni and Cheese
The ooey gooey goodness of Mac and Cheese is by far my favorite thing on this list. This is the one item that I will always have overflowing on my plate.
2. Stuffing
What's Thanksgiving with out stuffing right? For some people, they could eat stuffing as a meal all by its self.
And now the moment you've been waiting for...
1. Mashed Potatoes
Are you really surprised that this is the #1 side for Thanksgiving? It's like peanut butter and jelly, except in this case is Turkey and Mashed Potatoes!
Do you agree with this list? If not, what's your top side dished?
