Tom Hoverstad Scientist at the Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca keeps track of the weather at the official weather station. When I call Tom to talk about our December 2022 weather all I could think about is the cold weather and blizzard going into Christmas. I could not even remember what the weather was like early in December!

Tom said because of that storm event and artic cold that came with it we averaged 5 degrees colder than normal for December. That was the first month of colder than normal temperatures since April! There were 3 days during that memorable weather event that we did not get above zero!

Looking at the yearly averages, because January, February and December were so cold for 2022 we averaged 1.5 degrees colder than normal. So, 2022 will go down and colder and dryer than normal.
