{Listen} Mike and Kay Peterson Outstanding Conservationist

The Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) recognized Mike and Kay Peterson with the 2020 Outstanding Conservationist award. Typically this award is presented at the Rice County Fair during the Best of the Best Rice County Hall of Fame Program. With the Rice County Fair canceled this year, it was decided to recognize the awards in a different way this year.

Special thanks to Teresa Demars with the Rice County SWCD! Teresa and I went out to Mike and Kay Peterson's farm to record an interview and present the award. Click on the above link and you can listen to the interview with the Petersons. Mike for many years has been a leader in adapting conservation tillage and cover crops. Mike has also retrofitted old equipment for seeding cover crops. Mike's skill set with metal has been very helpful!
